To You Snacks!

I have something really exciting to announce/share with you this lovely Friday afternoon. A few weeks ago I had been looking for a fun new snack to give a go when I came across To You Snacks. To You Snacks is a trail mix and snack bar company that uses all natural nuts, berries and ingredients to make a healthy snack that’s easily portable. Initially I was excited to just give them a try because as we all know, I LOVE trying new things. BUT, I was even more excited to find out that they were local 🙂

So, naturally I shot them and email just to find out some more info. WHELP, I finally met with the owners, who are absolutely delightful. They are originally from Mexico and have been making snacks for just about 15 years. They are both avid water skiers and I just found out runners too! Ergo, To You Snack Bars are aimed to fuel the active lifestyle and cater to that high protein, low sugar need.

BUT! That’s not the best part. So, they have a whole bunch of different bars that you can choose from including:

Mango Yogurt

Apricot Coconut

Chocolate Cranberry

Goji Berry

Peanut Butter and Cranberry

Apple Pecan

And a whole bunch more. If for some crazy reason, these don’t catch your eye…you have the option to MAKE YOUR OWN. Yup. Email them and just provide a list of all the different ingredients you want in your bar. They will then shoot you back an email with the nutritional facts for your bar, just to get your approval. If you want more protein, or less carbs or anything else, you can adjust the ingredients. OR, just say okay. They will make the bars and ship them right to you. COOOL. Call it…the Sizzle Bar. I think it has a ring to it…

Anyways, if you couldn’t guess…that’s what my snack was today 🙂 I had the Whitney McClintock Bar (bet you can’t guess who made it!) which is packed with Berries, Almonds, Mango and Yogurt.

It was delicious. Think trail mix packed into an easy to eat little bar and that’s the flavor. No added sugars. Not crazy sweet. Simple and delicious.

Anyways, To You Snacks has something else crazy fun to offer. The PRIZE FOR SIZZLE WARS! So the winner of Sizzle Wars is going to get a box of assorted To You Snacks to give a go.

Blueberry Mango Smoothie and Surprise Date Night Dinner!

So I’m a little behind on my posts, but I have a VERY good reason why, which you will find out at the end of the post 🙂

Yesterday, I ran out of the house in a hurry to get to the office out in Melbourne. My extremely long drive that I am really happy has an end at some point. Another quick breakfast to make, and that is also very easy on the go, is obviously a smoothie. I had bought some frozen mangos a little while ago and felt like this would be a great time to use them. It was really simple as far as smoothie go, but really filled me up for the day.


1/2 Cup Frozen Mango 1/2 Cup Frozen Blueberry
1/2 Cup Almond Milk 1 Tablespoon Agave Nectar

When it came time for lunch, in the office that never eats lunch…I was ill prepared once again and just munched on a few snacks that were lying around. Seriously, I was dying and that will be the last time that this EVER happens. It’s not only really terrible for you, but by the end of the day I could turn into this little monster that could really eat a chair if I was given the opportunity.

In Florida, we are coming to the end of our rainy season, Thank Heavens! But, yesterday was no exception, we got a lovely rain storm for my drive home. I ended up stopping at a gas station to fill up and wandered inside for a quick bite to eat…I was starving. The one thing that really bothers me about gas stations is that there really aren’t many okay options to pick (not that you go to gas stations for a healthy bite to eat). Beef Jerky was always one of my go tos because it is lean. low calorie and high in protein. You really can’t ask for a better snack. Not eating meat, I settled on some baked lays.

When I got home, I was greeted with this:

And just to set the scene, from the back room Brent had “That’s Amore” blasting. I’m not much of a sappy, lovey dovey kind of girl and he said that was the best he could think of without it making me uncomfortable haha. It was perfect!

Brent made a salad with tomatoes and a sun dried tomato dressing. Yumm. And for dinner, it was the classic pasta with red sauce.

On the side, he made some garlic bread as well.

The basil on the bread was actually a very nice touch. It was really a get surprise and a yummy dinner.

We probably skimmed the top of the pasta bowl when we were both full. I laughed at how much pasta was left over and Brent said “Oh no…there’s more in the kitchen.” The man made the whole box of pasta. A POUND of pasta. I absolutely died.

This isn’t the first time that I have heard of a guy cooking a pound of pasta when it’s dinner for two and I am sure everyone out there has a FANTASTIC story of their own on this subject.

Overall, the dinner was amazing. I absolutely loved it and he completely surprised me, which is obviously the best part. For the rest of the night, we sat on the couch and watched some movies while drinking wine. Needless to say, the run I had planned didn’t get accomplished, nor did the post that I was planning on doing. But this was MUCH better!

I squeezed in my 3.6 mile run this morning and it was brutal. I was exhausted. It was probably the slowest I have ever run in my life. It really made me think about how different training on a treadmill and on street runs really is, even considering the flat Florida roads. Absolutely noted. I have a 4 mile run scheduled for saturday, which I have done in the past, but this just puts things back into perspective for me.
