Motivate Me Running Playlist

Over the past month, I have really started to struggle with staying motivated to run those 9, 10, 11, and 12 milers. I simply lost the motivation to do it. One of the ways that I kept myself going was changing up the music playlist. I found that sitting down and putting together a new playlist got me excited to hit the road and try it out.

All of the songs are upbeat, motivating and some had me singing along while running. True Life, I ran singing Breaking Dishes several times.

What is your motivating running song?? What beat can’t you ignore??

There’s Always An Excuse

Yesterday, I stopped into Nike to grab a new pair of pumped up kicks for running. The ones that I have been using are the same pair that I was training in for my last half marathon….which started just about a year ago now. After some discussion and a bit of indecisiveness, I ended up landing on a pair of pegasus. The bright yellow sorts.

I chose the color because I’m kind of a fan of everything that is just a little different, and it’s starting to get darker earlier, which means I’m running at dusk. I figured these bad boys would get noticed by anyone driving by. And I wasn’t disappointed. I was actually stopped by a woman who said she was blinded by my sneakers.

The sneakers along with my neon pink top…I felt like a running highlighter. True Life. Loved it.

While I was thinking about something that had crossed my mind a few weeks ago as I was sitting on the couch really debating going out for a run. There’s always an excuse NOT to go running. Always.

Excuse

I’ll run as soon as I get home.

I’ll run as soon as I relax for another 15 minutes.

I’ll run as soon as I eat something.

Now I’m full and need to wait until I digest it because I’ll get a cramp.

I’ll run as son as my show is over.

Okay, after this show.

Just one more.

Dang. Now it’s too late. I have to leave.

I can’t run today, it’s too humid.

Not today, it’s raining.

It’s too hot today, and I’m already dehydrated.

It’s cold now.

Snowing even.

It’s dark. Cars won’t be able to see me.

I’ve got some work to catch up on. Tomorrow.

I’m sore.

I need to rest my muscles.

I have a blister. It should heal.

Rest days are just as important as running days.

I”m tired.

I’ll run tomorrow morning.

I don’t feel like it.

I don’t have time to shower afterwards.

My running partner bailed on me.

No one else is running today.

When I realized that there is ALWAYS an excuse not to run, it really served as my motivation to run. I never want to be the person that is full of excuses, and each one is just that. There is no validity to any of those excuses. Each time that I am running, I go back and think about each one of the excuses that I have used in the past to justify not running and it really fuels me to run harder.

So bottom line, there is ALWAYS an excuse and you never need to look far to find one that sounds good and sound legitimate. But do you really want to be the person that is full of excuses??

To take it one step farther, are there other things that you put off constantly with smoke screens of excuses??

WHY NOT JUST DO IT??

What are some of your go to excuses??
