Dunkin Donuts has always been my favorite. When I was younger people would just get me gift cards to fund my trips to dunkies to get my large coffee coolatta. Now that I realize what is in those, and my taste has become a bit less sweet, I just won’t do it anymore. It’s not worth it in my mind to have a Mocha Coolatta anymore. Brent still gets them like crazy.

Instead, I have found some other options that are equally delicious, but have a ton less calories and a ton less sugar. For example, I will get an iced coffee with just coconut flavoring added to it. Nothing else. The little bit of sugar provided by the flavoring is just enough to make the drink itself refreshing and energizing.

On the top of the page I added the full link to Dunkin Donuts’ nutritional menu (cited at the bottom) but I have just thrown a few of my favorites and the staples of Dunkies into a quick little chart just so it is much easier to see what it is that you are consuming everyday.

It’s definitely crazy to see everything just laid out for you like this, but it gives you a great idea of what it is you are actually eating (my goal in all of this). Donuts really aren’t TERRIBLE for you like many people say. As long as you view it as dessert or a treat. They are obviously not nutritious and not healthy, but they are better for you than chocolate cake. So if you are craving something sweet, go for it.

Bagels, I have to say, are on the terrible side. They are really in carbs and in calories. Normally I shoot for 30 to 40 grams of carbs in a meal and bagels are two meals in that respect. And once you add the cream cheese on there, see you later. You can always opt for a bagel thin, not offered at dunkies, or take out the doughy center of the bagel and that will really drop down the carbs for you.

Bacon, Egg and Cheese on an English Muffin, on the road, these are definitely my go to. But looking at these nutritional facts, maybe opting for the simple Egg and Cheese would be a better option.

Coffee, as you know, is better for you when you don’t add all the sugar and all of the milk. The more simple you can have the coffee the better. Coolattas don’t make that simple cut. But play around with your options at dunkies and I am sure you will be able to find something that really hits the spot but doesn’t kill your healthy eating for the day.

Dunkies is known in the diabetic community for having some of the best fast food options because of their balanced meal choices. One of the on the go options that is fantastic are the Wake-Up Wraps. They are really light, low carb and high protein. A perfect choice to get you through the day if you just need a little pick me up.
