Tonight, I was debating on what I wanted to do for a workout because tomorrow is my long distance run for the week. So I wasn’t looking to do anything too taxing on my body, but wanted to get a good sweat on.
My first thought, was Yoga. Exactly what I wanted work out wise. Not high impact but will definitely get you going. I found a class scheduled for 430 this afternoon, and it was a done deal.
When I got home, I grabbed a banana and some SoyNut Butter, chocolate STYLE. Oh yea baby. I could literally sit on my couch with a jar and my finger and be happy for a long time.
(Ignore the chipping nail polish please 🙂 )
After my banana, I watched a bit of Married to Jonas, corny I know but I’m a sucker for reality TV. I headed out the gym, swiped my little badge and walked to the Yoga room. Funny, people playing basketball in the Yoga room. I checked the schedule…Yoga was YESTERDAY at 430. No yoga for me!
PLAN B: Throwing tennis balls with the puppies at the nearby school. Annnnd that’s a no. Kids lacrosse game scheduled for today.
PLAN C: Fine, I’ll go for a short run, which may turn into a longer one because I’m really ready to work out now with all this anticipation. As I’m strapping on the sneakers…THUNDER STORM! SERIOUSLY?!
PLAN D: INSANITY! Not to say that Insanity is a Plan D, but in all reality, Insanity is always there for you.
I ended up doing the Plyometric Cardio Circuit, which really is my go to as far as Insanity goes. It is the first DVD in the program and really targets your major muscle groups well.
I bought the Insanity Program about 2 years ago and I haven’t ever really stopped doing it. I love incorporating it into my workouts just o mix things up. The actual program, if you are unfamiliar, is a 60 day program that is designed to rev up your metabolism and burn fat extremely efficiently.
It is extremely difficult but it is worth the challenge. Everything that you do is your own body weight and can be done in your own home. You really only need the space to go to steps in each direction. Who knew you could get such a good workout with such little space?!
I love it for just that reason. If I feel lazy and don’t really have the motivation to get my butt up and get to the gym or head out for a run, I usually turn to Insanity simply because there are no excuses. All you have to do is stand up, push play and get it done. The first month, the videos are around 40 minutes each. If you can watch trashy TV for an hour, you can squeeze in a quick workout.
If you can’t tell, I love it. It’s completely worth every cent.
Although every time I do pull it out, the dogs seem to know exactly what I’m about to do. The first time I did it, Oreo was barking at me because she could tell I was really struggling and couldn’t understand who was hurting mommy. Now, this is what I get:
They do this every time. They jump around me, thinking I’m dancing with them. They bring toys over to me to play with. Bacon runs between my legs when I’m stretching. It’s a group activity.
Give it a try. Shaun T really knows what he is talking about. And I won’t lie when I say the program actually works (if you actually do it!).
