Taco Popcorn

A lot of the time I look at diabetic friendly recipes because they are very nutritionally balanced and low in carbohydrates. Not many people known that a typical meal for a person should only contain 30-45 Carbohydrates. WOW! And sugars are really supposed be around 15g PER DAY! A bowl of cereal typically exceeds this.

So I had a client the other day ask for some recipes that kids will love. Try telling a kid they shouldn’t eat bread or sugar when every other little guy is sucking on chocolate popsicles to stay cool in the middle of the florida summer. Among the ones that I had found, was one snack that seemed particularly intriguing…TACO POPCORN. Interesting I know but worth a try.

Taco Popcorn:


7.5 cup air popped popcorn

butter flavored cooking spray

1 1/2 tsp cumin

1 1/2 tsp onion powder

1 1/2 tsp Worcestershire sauce

cayenne pepper (optional)

Directions: Preheat oven to 300 degrees. Put popcorn in large mixing bowl. Lightly coat with cooking cpray. Toss and coat again. COmbine Cumin, garlic powder, onion powder and cayenne pepper (optional).Sprinkle spices over popcorn and toss to coat evenly. Drizzle Worcestershire Sauce over popcorn and toss again. Spread popcorn evenly in baking pan. Bake for 10 minutes. Tossing Once.
